Gluten Free Jam Rolls

Chēbē dough makes it possible to delight in jam rolls using your favorite preserves. And, because you control what goes in it, they are not only naturally gluten free, grain free, and yeast free, but they can be free of dairy and eggs!

  • 1 package (7.5 oz) Chebe All Purpose Mix
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 Tbsp milk or milk substitute
  • 2 large eggs, or aquafaba* (if egg is extra large, only use one)
  • 2 Tbsp oil or melted butter
  • 1/2 cup jam
  • Powdered sugar, optional
  1. Preheat oven to 375F.

  2. With a fork, blend the Chebe mix with the baking powder and sugar.
  3. Blend in the milk one Tbsp at a time, then slowly blend in the, eggs and oil for a couple of minutes. If the dough is too dry, add one or two teaspoons more.  With your hands, knead the dough until it becomes smooth and well blended.

  4. On a clean dry surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle of about 9” x 6”.
  5. Spread your favorite jam or fruit preserves evenly over the surface, leaving about 1/2 inch of the long edge without jam (so that you can seal the roll).
  6. From the long edge of the rectangle roll into a log, sealing the opposite edge to the dough by wetting your finger and wiping it gently along the edge. Place the log in the freezer for 15 minutes to chill the dough,

  7. Cut into 9 one inch pieces and place in a lightly greased 8 inch round pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  8. Remove from pan and top with sifted powdered sugar or a glaze. (To make a glaze, combine 2 oz. powdered sugar with 1/8 tsp vanilla and 3 tsp milk. Mix with a fork until a glaze forms.)

*For an egg-free version, use 6 Tbsp aquafaba.
