No gluten and no grain in these, but Chēbē grilled pita bread is fast, is easy, and is so good. Remember, Chēbē wasn’t created to be “gluten free”, it just naturally is!
- 1 package (7.5 oz) Chebe Original Cheese Bread Mix
- 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese, optional
- 2 eggs, or aquafaba*
- 4 Tbsp water
- 2 Tbsp oil
-
Preheat the grill to medium high.
-
Prepare the mix according to the package instructions, blending in the cheese, eggs, water and oil with a fork for a couple of minutes. Then use your hands to bring the dough together into a smooth ball.
-
Divide dough into 5 or 6 equal pieces. With each piece, shape into a ball, then flatten to about 6 - 7 inch rounds (about 1/4 inch thick).
-
Brush lightly with oil.
-
Place each round onto the hot grill. Use a spatula to keep the dough from sticking to the grill. Grill for about 3 – 4 minutes on each side or until lightly browned.
-
Remove from grill and cut each round into halves or quarters.
*For an egg-free version, use 6 Tbsp aquafaba.
Serve as a side to your grilled meal, with hummus or a similar pate.
