Braided Breadsticks

If you want to put a kick in your step when it comes to preparing Chēbē Bread, we think that these braided breadsticks are just the ticket.  They are both elegant and easy.  So, impress your eyeballs as well as your taste buds with one more unique way to prepare gluten and grain free Chēbē!

Ingredients
  • 1 package (7.5 oz) Chebe Original Cheese Bread Mix
  • 2 oz shredded Parmesan* plus a little more for sprinkling
  • 2 large eggs or aquafaba**
  • 4 Tbsp water or milk if using other Chebe varieties
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • Egg wash (blend 1 egg w/ 1 Tbsp water)
  • Fresh herbs for sprinkling (chives thyme, etc.)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375F
  2. In a bowl and using a fork, blend into the Chebe mix the cheese, eggs, water and oil. Mix for a few minutes then continue kneading with your hands until the dough is smooth.

  3. Separate into 15 equal pieces (each piece will weigh about 1 oz).
  4. Three pieces at a time, roll them out into 10” thin strands.
  5. Braid the set of three strands into one braided breadstick (see above photos or video for reference). Be sure to press then ends together so that the end of the breadstick is smooth. Do this with the remaining pieces.

  6. Place the breadsticks on a baking pan. Brush them generously with egg wash.
  7. Sprinkle the breadsticks with shredded Parmesan cheese and herbs. Bake for 20 minutes.
Recipe Notes

*Hey, dairy free cheese works great with Chēbē!

 

**For an egg-free version, use 6 Tbsp aquafaba.
